John Wayne Parr Seminar

On Sat 27 May, a group of Kickboxing Club Members attended a Muay Thai Seminar by one of Australia's best Muay Thai fighters Wayne Parr (aka John Wayne Parr or JWP). This Seminar was organised by Kru Mark "The Hammer" Castagnini, who taught a Seminar for us as a Guest Instructor last year.

The JWP Seminar was held at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre, with over 100 people attending.

JWP covered many topics, including getting as much power out of every punch you throw, Muay Thai kicks, knees and elbows, partner drills, defence against punches and body shots, defence against elbows, against kicks, footwork, counters, setting up shots, long knees, and grappling. There was question time at the end and JWP even did 10 rounds of light sparring with 10 different guys in his final preparation for his fight with Wanlop.

The JWP Seminar was a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from a world class Muay Thai fighter who is still currently fighting, and in his prime. Not only is he very knowledgeable about Muay Thai & a great champion in the ring, he is also a genuinely humble, down-to-earth, all-round nice guy – very likeable and full of enthusiasm for the sport.
