Grading Recommendations - Semester 1

Hi everyone,

It’s been an eventful year so far with the
Kickboxing Club performing O-Week demonstrations, attending Ajarn Chai Sirisute’s Seminar, hosting a Street-Fighting Seminar by Maestro Robert M. Halaijian, hosting a Muay Thai Seminar by Kru Mark “The Hammer” Castagnini, organising an Ong Bak Movie Night and social BBQ, buying 10 new kickshields from our fundraising efforts, and having two of our students represent us at the National All Styles Championships – all in Semester 1.

And now, Semester 1 Gradings are approaching. For those of you who are new to the
Kickboxing Club, the Grading System consists of 6 Levels, beginning with Level 6 and working its way up to Level 1, followed by the Black Shirt Level (equivalent to Black Belt).

The Grading System allows you to set goals for yourself, continue to develop your technical skills as well as your physical and mental attributes, and ensure that you learn everything within our Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Filipino Kickboxing curriculum.

Those of you who want to develop your leadership skills further and give back to the Martial Arts all that you have gained may want to become Assistant Instructors, and eventually Instructors yourselves one day. You will need to work through the entire Grading System, become a Black Shirt, and undergo Instructor Training as there are distinct skill sets required to become an Instructor.

Students who are recommended for Grading by
Kickboxing Club Instructors will be invited to the Grading. Being recommended for Grading does not involve technical ability alone. We’re looking for people who not only turn up to class, but turn up the intensity and put in the effort.

We’re also looking for other qualities, such as determination, team spirit, fighting spirit, leadership, curiosity, integrity, and commitment & contribution to the
Kickboxing Club. These qualities will become more and more important as you move up the ranks.

Grading is not compulsory. However, it is highly recommended for your development and demonstrates to Instructors that you’re serious about your training and committed to self-improvement.

Congratulations to the following people for being selected to grade for Level 6 on Friday 22 July 2005. The Grading will be held in the Martial Arts Hall from 7pm – 10pm (you will need to arrive 15 mins early to start warming up).

The following people have already graded for Level 5, and will be working through the Grading Requirements for Level 4. Everyone listed above has trained with the Kickboxing Club since the start of the year (or earlier), and have trained consistently and improved significantly.

Those of you who have been recommended for Grading will need to pick up the Grading Requirements from me in class. You will find that the Level 6 Grading Requirements are fairly simple and straight-forward, but the Requirements become progressively more difficult and demanding as you move up the Levels.

You will need to confirm your attendance at the Grading with me in class by Friday 1st July. Alternatively, you can contact me on 0403 171 328 or
info@monashkickboxing.com.

Thank You.

Keep up your hard work!
